Let me introduce you to my buddy Adverse Search engine optimisation. In a nutshell,
Detrimental Web optimization is principally the precise reverse of
search engine marketing. Which means the intent is to drive
search rankings into the bathroom as a substitute of accelerating search visibility in Google.

You see that huge spike in backlinks towards the start of November?
As a lot as I’d wish to say that was the day we hit the entrance web page
of Hacker Information and garnered hyperlinks from everywhere in the planet,
it undoubtedly wasn’t that.

That was the day that somebody initiated an intentional malicious assault on our company’s webpage, wpsitecare.com.
There are a variety of the way to indicate that it was malicious, however the easiest method
is by wanting on the key phrase density for our
site earlier than and after the assault, and by taking
a look at the place the hyperlinks had been coming from.
So far as key phrases go, it undoubtedly might have
been worse. The key phrases that we have been spammed with weren’tthat dangerous, however they undoubtedly screwed up the objectives we had
for our site and the issues that we wished to rank

The larger problem is the spike in unnatural hyperlinks from a number of unsavory sources over
the course of some days. That’s a giant pink flag for google and took our site out for a quantity of various rankings for over 30 days.
Google thought we had been making an attempt to cheat the system and penalized us accordingly.

It wasn’t good.

Whereas Google claims that that destructive Search engine
optimisation is "extremely rare", there are 28,000,000 outcomes returned once you seek for that phrase.
If it smells like a rat…

Wanting Deeper into Damaging Web optimization

I’m not a technical Web optimization knowledgeable however there are a number of in-depth research which have been performed that present
that damaging Web optimization can undoubtedly be finished,
and that it’s actually not even that arduous.
It’s even gotten to the purpose the place "white hat" corporations are requesting that damaging Website positioning be accomplished
of their behalf to squash the competitors.

A few of you could keep in mind that my enterprise partner’s podcast and journal site wpbacon.com was utterly wiped out of google search rankings after a large spam assault final yr.
It was so dangerous that he wasn’t in a position to get better the area and ultimately had to shut all
the pieces down for good.

Jacob King outlines all the things that occurred when wpbacon received fried (see what I did there?) in his publish The reality about Damaging Search engine optimisation, and this graphic ought to offer you some fairly good perception into how ugly adverse Web optimization can get.

The technical implications are extremely ugly however
a connection that lots of people miss when they’re speaking about backlinks, and domains, and
pagerank, and SERPs, and [insert different Search engine optimisation jargon right here], is that each one of this stuff are tied instantly into people’s livelihoods.

The fact is that with the suitable community and just a
little knowhow, opponents may be fully wiped off the web and
might lose their total enterprise.

Loss in Visitors Means a Drop in Income

By dropping out of google’s good graces, our company’s backside line positively took successful.
It sucked. I couldn’t work out what was occurring with our Google site visitors however proper firstly of November our visitors began on a gradual decline and we began slipping for rankings
that we had held for a very long time beforehand. I couldn’t work out what was occurring till
I regarded into our backlink profile and observed spammy hyperlinks that matched up precisely with
the beginning of our visitors slowdown.

We’re beginning to get well now, however November and December may have been lots higher for us if somebody didn’t exit of their method
to be dicks on the web.

Disillusioned within the Supply

What was extra disappointing than something was what we found as we began to dig in and work out who
would have needed to assault our small enterprise. We’ve at
all times tried to exit of our approach and do issues
on the up and up, so I couldn’t consider why anybody would need to take a direct
shot at us. It was actually a bummer.

Utilizing some subtle methods we have been capable
of hint again to the supply of the spam assault and sadly came upon that the assault was began by somebody throughout the WordPress neighborhood.
They did every thing by a 3rd-occasion, an web hitman of types,
to strive and canopy their tracks, however they weren’t fairly cautious sufficient and we have
been in a position to uncover the place every thing began.

I’m not going to call any names, and the explanation I
haven’t shared any of our personal key phrase knowledge is as a result of I don’t
need folks looking and speculating and all that. The one purpose I even point out
it's in order that hopefully that individual reads
this and is aware of that what they’re doing is impacting the livelihood’s of individuals
and their households.

Everybody on my group has labored our asses off to make it thus far, and having our
exhausting work undone as a result of somebody is an insecure coward with no confidence in their very
own expertise and strategies is truthfully intestine-wrenching.

The place to Go From Right here

We’ve been lucky in that we’ve been capable
of rebound comparatively rapidly. Numerous small companies aren’t so fortunate.

We had a robust area earlier than the assault and primarily
based on different assaults we’ve seen, we might have been hit quite a bit tougher.
It’s nonetheless a bummer that it occurred, particularly from somebody that we all know, however
it does function a reminder that the web continues to be the Wild West for lots of oldsters, so watch
out on the market.

If you wish to study extra about adverse Search
engine optimization, here’s a listing of assets that you may check with,
and a few issues to do if you happen to do get attacked sooner
or later.

Did you already find out about Adverse Search engine optimisation? Have you ever ever been hit?
Would love to listen to your experiences within the

Please share this put up with different enterprise house owners, and even your bosses if you’re an worker someplace.

After another caller came up with the same issue, it became imperative to find out what was going on in Osun State.

The state truly owes about six months’ salary backlog, and the workers have become restive as a result.

The Governor, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola, attributes the unpaid salaries to the state’s
dwindling revenue. For instance, he revealed, revenue from all
sources in 2012, including the Federation Account;
internally generated revenue; and other accruals, like value added tax,
from the Federal Government, yielded N28.4 billion, whereas total wage bill only was N31.6 billion, leaving a deficit of N3.2 billion. The same scenario was repeated in 2013,
with a deficit of N10.4 billion.

It turned out also that dwindling oil revenue has made it difficult for the Federal Government, and 24 (some say 28) of Nigeria’s
36 states, to pay staff salaries. The initial cause of the
palaver was the increase of minimum wage to N18,000, unilaterally entered
into by the President Goodluck Jonathan Government with the labour unions.
It became a kerfuffle when the price of crude oil
plummeted, and reduced the revenue that accrued to the

The Nigerian Governors’ Forum, led by former Rivers State Governor, Rotimi Amaechi,
alleged that another cause of the problem was the Federal Government’s squandering of funds due to the states
from the Excess Crude Account. But former Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, Dr.
Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, countered that the money was
actually paid to states.

Things have gotten so bad that the Nigerian National Petroleum
Corporation (NNPC) is unable to meet $2 billion cash call
obligations to its joint-venture international oil corporation partners.
Indeed an IOC source alleges that the Federal Government totally mismanaged available crude oil revenue, and
misappropriated money meant to execute projects
and activities that were not included in budgets approved
by the National Assembly.

Some argue that some state governments embarked on ambitious projects.

But government is about providing services to the people
– and paying some cadres of the citizenry to perform it.
And there are some services that the people didn’t ask for, but must be provided nonetheless:
You don’t ask for the military or police forces to protect you,
before government provides them anyway.

The same goes for social services like hospitals, schools, and traffic control
that will have adverse effect on society if
not discharged. You will have a hard time faulting
an Osun State Government that fulfills its electoral promises by feeding
about 254,000 pupils daily, and providing jobs for about 3,000 cooks, and giving farming and
agribusiness a shot in the arm, through the ‘O’ MEALS
Elementary School Feeding and Health Programme.

Neither can you really fight a plan to refurbish the old Osogbo Aerodrome, to provide a
hub to freight agricultural cargo from Osun and adjoining states.

The airport comes with a repairs hanger where military,
private operators and commercial airlines can repair their aircraft.
The network of roads around the airport also makes for easy flight connections for
passengers and farming cargoes.

But the sudden drop of oil revenue scuppered the whole thing, bringing unpaid wages in its wake.
Because the problem of unpaid wages of government workers
is a universal phenomenon in Nigeria, many
suggest downsizing of staff. That fails to recognise that employment of workers is also a legitimate social service expected of every

This then brings up the argument that state governments must be allowed to independently negotiate minimum wages with labour unions.
If the Federal Government will not pay the salary bills of states, it should not negotiate wages on their behalf.
Allowing each state the autonomy to negotiate its minimum wage with labour goes by the name, ‘fiscal federalism.’

But the Federal Government is too big, to the detriment of states and (especially) local governments.
The real interface between the state and the citizens is more at the local government level.
Shouldn’t the revenue allocation formula be restructured to the advantage of local councils?

Indeed, the day of argument for fiscal federalism
is here. It is imperative for the Nigerian state to recognise that those who
provide the resources must be first partakers in its yield.
That must explain why the Niger Delta, whose soil provides the
oil and gas that have provided the major source of revenue
for the country, complain about being schemed out of the returns from the petroleum resources.

The Ijaw have therefore expressed a desire for self-determination, having noted that the treaty of 1914, between the
Ijaw and the British colonial powers, lapsed in 2014.
Fair-minded Nigerian patriots must not ignore this heart cry of the
Ijaw – or other nationalities for that matter. All people of goodwill must strive to
achieve a more honest interpretation and implementation of the protocols of
democratic and federal governance in Nigeria.

More to the point: State governments that owe salaries must certainly demonstrate the will to
pay. They could restructure payment schedules (the way bankers do),
and then seek to re-negotiate more realistic minimum wage regime with labour.
This way, accrued wage bills are settled, and a future without financial booby-traps,

And it is not enough to blame the states for unpaid salaries.
The Federal Government may have to immediately initiate a rescue plan to pay the salary arrears, to stem the
human suffering, before asking the state governments to go and sin no

What exactly is your mandate?
With the adoption of the National Biosafety
Management Agency Act 2015, Nigeria has now domesticated the Cartagena
Protocol on Biosafety, which the country signed in 2000 and ratified in 2003.
It therefore means that Nigeria is now a player in global biosafety regulation. It also now opens avenues for Nigeria to adopt modern biotechnology for economic development.

Our duties as an agency basically is to provide assurance of
regulated use of modern biotechnology for increased productivity
in the agricultural sector that would lead to improved socio-economic development
of Nigerian farmers and enhanced national economic prosperity.
It will also attract foreign investments and earnings from a safe modern biotechnology sector,
leading to environmental sustainability, jobs or wealth creation.
We don’t promote, we regulate. We serve as a safety gauge for the deployment of genetic technology in the country.
It is our responsibility to ensure that the application of the technology does not in any way affect human beings or the environment.

What potential does the technology hold for Nigeria?
With the technology, scientists can undertake the development of plants
or organisms that can reduce the impact of climate change and serve in pollution remediation and improve the health sector using
various plants that abound in the country. It can also enhance our food quality and make farmers get reward for their hard work as they will have
access to quality seeds.

How prepared is your agency to tackle controversies associated with
the technology?
The NBMA is a well-prepared organisation. It currently has personnel who have been trained within and outside Nigeria,
in biosafety regulation and enforcement. We have national
biosafety guidelines and regulations developed, as well as the National Biosafety Laboratory for analysing GMOs.
The NMBA has also liaised with other government agencies having mandates relating to
the use or otherwise of biotechnology and we are also in constant discussions with
prospective clients and key players. We are not promoters
of biotechnology, but regulators to ensure that its use does not in any way jeopardise the health of Nigerians or the environment.
The controversial nature of biotechnology makes it
imperative for the NBMA to be on the ground to monitor and above all to ensure
that biotechnology is deployed in the country in such a way that it is devoid of risk.

Does Nigeria have the capacity to deal with sensitive issues such as GMOs development?

Yes. Some Nigerian institutions such as the Institute for Agricultural Research at the Ahmadu Bello University,
Zaria and the National Root Crop Research Institute, Umudike, have partnerships with some foreign institutions in GMOs development and are currently carrying out
confined field trials of GMOs. Some institutions such
as the Sheda Science and Technology Complex and the National Cereals Research Institute, Badeggi have also acquired
modern biotechnology competence, and the NBMA has
accredited them to carry out modern biotechnology activities.

Research institutes or organisations now have a basis to carry out
modern biotechnology research and development for product deployment.
This was hitherto not possible due to the absence of the law, but since the
passage of the law and the establishment of NBMA, we are
exploring all possible collaborations that would ensure that the technology contributes to Nigeria’s quest
for self-sufficiency in food production, job creation and
poverty alleviation in a safe manner.

Why are you conducting a nationwide survey of
GMOs suspects?
The survey is a basis for us to ascertain our current GMO and modern biotechnology activities, document them and be sure that these are the GM products
that we need. We will also require operators in this sector
to formalise their dealings in modern biotechnology and
GMOs. We are aware that there are some GM suspect products
in the country but we have to carry out a survey, identify those products and
carry out laboratory analysis on them. That will help us to make a statement of fact.

Is there any officially certified GM product in the country?

No. There is no officially certified GM product in Nigeria.
But there are researches on-going on cowpea at ABU, Zaria,
rice at the National Cereal Research Institute, Badegi, cassava at the National Root Crop Research Institute, Umudike and cotton.
Apart from these confined trials, no GM product is available in Nigeria.
Although we have noticed that some farmers go out of the country
and come back with suspected GM seeds but officially, the first GM crop in Nigeria will be cotton which is expected to be made available to farmers by 2018,
when the research and issues relating to its release would have been completed.

Should Nigerians be afraid of GM products?
Nigerians need not fear. The technology is one of the most regulated.

We cannot allow the health of Nigerians or the environment to be jeopardised by any
foreign invasion, so the Nigeria Biosafety Management Agency will monitor and regulate the
application of the technology.

The Ota, Ogun State hilltop mansion of former president, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo was a Mecca of sorts
yesterday as some political leaders paid the former leader a visit.
Senate President David Mark, former governor of Lagos State and All Progressives Congress (APC) leader, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, Delta State Governor, Emmanuel Uduaghan, Polycarp Nwete and Mrs Josephine
Anenih, were some of those who visited the former president.

Tinubu who arrived at the former president?s house when the PDP team led by mark, told journalists after a nearly two hours meeting with Obasanjo that he had come
to seek his opinion of some of his (Obasanjo?s) boys who are vying for the presidency on the platform of the APC.

The former governor may have been referring to former vice president Atiku Abubakar, who has declared to run for the presidency
on the APC?s platform, as well as Kano State governor, Musa Kwankwaso, who is also said to be eyeing the number one position. Atiku was
vice president under Obasanjo for eight years, from 1999 to
2007, while Kwankwaso also served as defence minister
under him.

Speaking with newsmen, Tinubu lamented that Nigeria had been unfortunate with clueless leaders, resulting in poor development, infrastructural decay and general
lack of development. He emphasised the need for a change in leadership, to those with ideas to salvage the country
from the present economic doldrums and general inertia.

He further stated that Nigeria though is 54, remains a toddler because basic
things of life such as food, water and good roads are alien to the citizens of the

Asked why he was at the former president?s home, Tinubu
said as former president, Obasanjo has influence in some areas of the nation?s
political sphere, adding that his party the APC had successfully done a merger with
many branches and there was the need to talk and find out from the former president his thoughts on the Nigeria he
left behind and the Nigeria of the future.

?I am here to pay homage to the former president. We want his observation on his former boys who are running for
presidency in our party. What can he say about them?
Nigeria at 54, we are still an invalid baby in the incubator,
that is the truth. We are blessed with human capital, we have not developed it.

?We have army of unemployed graduates, stampede, maiming and injuring themselves to find their daily needs.
We have not grown up.

?We don?t have good leaders, the leaders are clueless,
the followers, we appear sadistic, we like
being punished, because if you work for an honest system, I don?t see why a
president will remove subsidy on onshore and win an election in the second week, to me,
there is need for a common sense revolution,? Tinubu

Speaking further, he emphasised that, ?common sense revolution of security overhaul,
common sense revolution in job creation and better condition of
living of all of you. It is high time we took our country back from the
mismanagement, corruption and replace the clueless leaders with purposeful, revolutionary leaders that will rehabilitate this country and fix everything.?

?It is a rescue mission, we must take our country back from mismanagers,?
Tinubu added.

Also speaking with journalists, the Senate president also said they were at the home of the former president to seek counsel as a former leader on various issues.

?You know that Baba is the leader so, we have come to discuss with him and raise
some basic issues that affect both the party and the nation at large.
They are discussions that would move this nation forward you know his passion for this nation is
unquantifiable so, we have really had a good discussion about it.?

Mark further said, ?we are working as a party to make sure we put everybody who wants
to be on board on board and congresses are coming up
so I think this is normal.?

Meanwhile, sources close to former president disclosed that the visits of the political
heavyweights have to do with horse trading over next year?s general election as
the two leading political parties.

?Well, their visits to Baba Obasanjo have to do with next year?s presidential election, both
PDP and APC are asking for Baba?s support because of who
he is in the country. The Senate President, (David) Mark is a political son of Baba (Obasanjo)
and he is a close ally of President Goodluck Jonathan who could not have come on his
own because of what he wrote to him in his reply to Baba?s
letter. Since that time, both of them have not been relating
very well and the likes of Senator Mark know what this could mean for the party and I am sure Asiwaju
Tinubu might have gotten wind of their coming and came to discourage Baba from supporting Jonathan. This is why I called it political
gymnastics,? a source said.

Another source also said the visits were based on power intrigues and political permutations.

?I have not gotten the full details of what transpired but it may have to do with horse trading.
PDP needs the Southwest and Tinubu is influential but Tinubu belongs
to the opposition party and he is also interested in who wins where
in the zone. Not only that, even within the APC, Tinubu may want
to know who Baba Obasanjo would like him to support among the trio
of General Muhammadu Buhari, Kwankaso and Atiku Abubakar.
If APC picks a wrong candidate, Baba would not have anything to do with him.
You see how complex.
